please scroll down - it's a long page
(Check out the event calendar on the left for specific on the day details, and see also that there are other activities other than our regular get together sessions on Wednesdays, not listed below, lit up in blue).
Our regular weekly features are;-
1st Wednesday: Rumours Cafe 19:45 for 20:00. "Ideas" night. A social evening with a buffet meal. New ideas for projects to solve problems in the local or in the wider international communities can be floated, and general discussion takes place in an informal atmosphere. This meeting follows the Council meeting of action groups earlier on the same evening.
1st Thursday: Business breakfast at Rumours Cafe. 07:30. Sausages toast & bacon butties who can resist? This event is to encourage local businesses to network and do business with each other, as well as to see how our members can help the local business community and how local businesses can get involved with Rotary projects & events. Rotarians welcome especially those with their own or working for a local business.
2nd Wednesday: Rumours Cafe 19:45 for 20:00. A sit down meal followed by a speaker. Local organisations, my job talks, or charities talk to us about their work, Rotarians from other groups talk about their special projects, committee chairmen or from District (Rotary Wessex) come and educate us about the wider aspects of Rotary. Meals must be booked in advance - by the Sunday night before the meeting. A Doodle is usually created to confirm numbers for the meal.
3rd Wednesday: Rumours Cafe 19:45 for 20:00. Rotary business meeting. Please arrive fed and watered as there is no organised meal, but there is coffee wine and beer as well as cakes, and you can order anything ad hoc Rumours have available on the night individually. Council reports/minutes are presented to all Rotarians present, council decisions ratified and discussed by all. This is followed by a general discussion under the various Rotary heads: Membership, Foundation, PR, Administration, Service projects and International. Each of these areas of interest will be represented by one individual Rotarian with a substitute acting (given the size of our group) as a notional committee.
4th Wednesday: Rumours Cafe 19:45 for 20:00. A sit down meal followed by a speaker. Local organisations, my job talks, or charities talk to us about their work, Rotarians from other groups talk about their special projects, committee chairmen or from District come and educate us about the wider aspects of Rotary. Meals must be booked in advance - by the Sunday night before the meeting. A Doodle is usually created to confirm numbers for the meal.
NOTE: If a fifth Wednesday follows this meeting, its a Scatter Night. Suggestion: decide amongst yourselves, before you leave the 4th Wednesday meeting, which clubs you are going to visit. (It's probably best to do that in small groups of 2-6 Rotarians).
5th Wednesday's: these are intended to be a Scatter Night to other groups in our Wessex District area. Otherwise known as "doing a raid". Alternatively, why not go to another area entirely and see how they do their Rotary?
For this Wednesday only, we will not be in our usual venue at Rumours Cafe
.................
Sometimes there might be the odd exception to this order of meetings, or extra events in between our usual meeting dates, again confirm this by looking for any blue highlighted dates in the calendar on the left. Mouse pointer over will reveal the title of the event, clicking will reveal more detail.
